Hawaii Island credit union young professionals (YPs) are experiencing exciting and insightful events. Lead by Hawaii Community FCU Branch Manager Tim Ashcraft, these young professionals most recently met with Ed Texeira, former State Civil Defense Director, on the beach at Anaehoomalu Bay in Waikoloa.

“The main topic of our discussion with Ed was on leadership and value systems,” Ashcraft explained. “Given his depth of leadership experience in the US Army for 26 years, Emergency Management at both the State and County levels, and leading Waikoloa Canoe Club, he had a tremendous impact on our Young Professionals.”

The YPs also had the opportunity to work as a team in an outrigger canoe. Ed Teixeira’s wife Sammy was part of the first Wahine Outrigger Canoe Crew to paddle from Molokai to Oahu in 1975. The YP’s were fortunate to have her as their steersperson as they paddled the waters off Anaehoomalu Bay.
