Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is honored to be named one of the best of the best credit unions in Hawaii by the Forbes list of America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions for 2021. HCFCU was one of just five Hawaii-based credit unions to receive the award from Forbes.

“We strive each day to live up to the most important word in our name—community,” said Tricia Buskirk, president & CEO of HCFCU. “We are who we are because of the community we call home and the people who are its heart. Our community is the core of who we are and where our commitment lies.”

Forbes and Statista conducted an independent survey of about 25,000 U.S. consumers nationwide. Participants were asked to rate credit unions they have or had checking accounts with and to rank those institutions on several factors, including trust, branch services, digital services, customer service, and financial advice. Of more than 5,000 credit unions across the United States, only 190 made this elite list.

“This recognition is an honor for our credit union, our members, and our community,” said Buskirk. “We look forward to upholding our HCFCU legacy of community and providing the service with aloha that our member ʻohana expects and deserves.”

HCFCU is a not-for-profit, federally insured financial institution owned by its 42,800 members. HCFCU’s branches are in Hilo, Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kealakekua, Kohala. Additionally, HCFCU has Student Credit Unions in Hilo, Kealakehe, Kohala, and Konawaena High Schools.

In addition to financial services from checking and savings, HCFCU provides service-minded financial professionals to help facilitate mortgage, land, construction, small business, educational, personal and auto loans; drive up tellers; credit and debit cards with rewards; online and mobile banking; investment services and youth programs. HCFCU also supports numerous Hawaii Island non-profit organizations and community events.
