The goal was raised to $22,000 as the timeframe was extended to the end of November. Collectively, Oahu credit unions raised a grand total of $102,048.62 by the November 30 conclusion of the Credit Union Coalition campaign!

Since the onset of the pandemic, Hawaii Foodbank had to pivot many times to keep up with increased need for services while adhering to safety guidelines. Hawaii Foodbank made the switch to virtual food drives and reached out to the community not knowing what to expect.

“This was the first year we assembled a virtual Credit Union Coalition and because of you, it was an incredible success. Simply put, we are blown away,” said Beverly Santos, Hawaii Foodbank director of food drive & events. “We want to express our deepest gratitude for your commitment to serve our community. You may not be the ones loading the trunk of a family in need, but you are just as much a part of it.”

Santos thanked Oahu credit unions for taking a stand with Hawaii Foodbank and ensuring residents in need have a meal to enjoy during the holidays.

“International Credit Union Day was October 15 and this year’s theme was Inspiring Hope for a Global Community,” she said.  “Please know, in the eyes of Hawaii Foodbank you achieved that.”
