Modified LifeSmarts program still needs CU support

LifeSmarts, the ultimate consumer challenge is a program of the National Consumers League was established in 1994 as an educational opportunity for students in the 6th -12th grade. It is brought to Hawaii by the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Office of the Securities Commission in partnership with Hawaii Credit Union League as a supported Family Involvement Committee Initiative.

Each year an online competition is held between the months of August and December. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, on-going public health concerns, and travel and budget restrictions the Hawaii LifeSmarts Program has been modified for this year. DCCA will only host the Online Competition. Additionally, DCCA will not be hosting a 2021 State Competition and will not be traveling to the 2021 National Competition that will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio.

DCCA would still like to award prizes to the top four teams in the Online Competition as well as prizes for the Assessment Quiz and the coaches. For years Hawaii credit unions have generously responded to DCCA’s request for prize donations. If your credit union would like to donate prizes, please click here for the supporter form. Prizes are due to the League office by January 8, 2021.
