Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union fielded three Real Men Wear Pink fundraising candidates this year.

Breast cancer affects everyone—women and men. That’s why groups of men are recruited to fight breast cancer through Real Men Wear Pink. During the month of October, the Real Men Wear Pink of Hawaii Community FCU wore pink all month long to show their support and raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

Among the candidates from the Big Island Real Men Wear Pink campaign were Hawaii Community FCU Vice President of Operations Ryan McGrady, Hilo Branch Manager Tyson Klask, and Honokaa & Kohala Branch Manager Tim Ashcraft.

Ashcraft ranked first among Hawaii fundraisers. He set at goal of raising $2,500 and raised $5,540.77. Klask also set a goal of $2,500 and raised $3,103. And McGrady raised $2,640.03, surpassing his goal of $2,500.

“The fight against cancer is personal for me,” Tim Ashcraft said. “I know family, friends, co-workers, and credit union members impacted by this dreaded disease. As a husband to a beautiful wife and a father to a beautiful daughter, I would do anything in my power to support breast cancer research to prevent the loss of a loved one.  As a man, it’s time to ‘step up to the plate’.”
