A fundraising effort spearheaded by Hawaii Law Enforcement FCU for two slain Honolulu police officers raised $224,984.88.
The credit union established the memorial fund in January with the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) to assist the families of Honolulu police officers Tiffany Enriquez and Kaulike Kalama.
Aloha Pacific FCU, Hawaii Schools FCU, Hawaii State FCU, Hawaiian Financial FCU, HawaiiUSA FCU, Hickam FCU, Honolulu Federal CU (HOCU), Honolulu Fire FCU, Koolau FCU, Pearl Hawaii FCU and University of Hawaii FCU accepted donations at all branches through February. Also participating in the fundraising were local eateries Zippy's, Popeye's, Purve Donuts, and Big City Diner.
The distribution of funds to the families were administered by the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO).
