Garden Island FCU, Gather FCU, Kauai Government Employees FCU, Kauai Teachers FCU, and McBryde FCU supported the Kauai Independent Food Bank in a recent food drive.

The food distribution was presented to associates of the Kauai Marriott, many of whom have been laid off or furloughed since March. More than 1,400 hot meals and more than 300 food packages prepared.

According to the Kauai Independent Food Bank, each associate received a hot meal and a food package containing assorted canned food, pasta, snacks, and other items, including a gallon of milk, and hamburger.

Other volunteers included about 20 members from the Zonta Club of Kauai, Miss Hawai‘i Filipina Isabel Gampon, and Governor David Ige’s Kauai Liaison Carrice Gardner.

“This food distribution is just a warmup for the Back to School Bash,” said Terri Kaniho of Gather Federal Credit Union. “We’re all in — just like when we do the Back to School Bash.”

“This is really good that they do this for their associates,” said Chantal Zarbaugh of Kauai Government Employees FCU that hosts its own food distribution for the community.
