Living Our Values Through Change
April 28, 2020 // 10:00-11:00 a.m. CT
Speaker: Chad Helminak

Values just aren’t a set of words we display on our organization’s websites and in our breakrooms. They serve as promises to the people we serve and as guideposts for our actions no matter the circumstances. Credit unions were born out of crisis and over the years they have weathered change by remaining true to our cooperative values. This session will explore key leadership lessons from our shared credit union past and how these ideas should come naturally to us as we work our way through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Living Through a Pandemic, In Someone Else’s Shoes
April 30, 2020 // 10:00-11:00 a.m. CT
Speaker: Chad Helminak

Beyond the COVID-19 headlines and statistics we all see daily, there are many stories that remain untold. These are the stories of credit union members and communities that we serve. Many were dealing with issues, financial or otherwise, prior to the pandemic and our current situation is only making those issues worse. By listening to their stories and asking the right questions, we can begin to uncover pain points and future opportunities for credit unions to be more than just financial institutions in the coming months.

Avoiding Pitfalls and Practicing Empathy for Organizations
May 5, 2020 // 10:00-11:00 a.m. CT

Speaker: Chad Helminak

Research and case studies show that there is value in applying empathy and “getting it right”. But what does it look like in practice within teams and across an organization? And how can we measure our success in practicing empathy? This session will explore common mistakes seen in the marketplace and what credit unions can do to avoid these pitfalls.

Avoiding Pitfalls and Practicing Empathy for Individuals
May 7, 2020 // 10:00-11:00 a.m. CT

Speaker: Chad Helminak

Sometimes it’s easier to understand how someone else is feeling when they share similar circumstances (such as staying at home during a global pandemic). A lot of times though, we can’t understand other’s feelings and making assumptions can be dangerous. There is a huge advantage to connecting with people through our emotions and feelings. This session will explore what empathy looks like in interpersonal relationships with members, colleagues and others.
