82nd HCUL Annual Convention canceled

on "March 16, 2020 3:32 pm"

In light of growing coronavirus concerns and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory for mass gatherings and large community events, the 2020 annual convention is being cancelled.   This decision was extremely difficult and made after considerable due diligence in an unprecedented environment of uncertainty and considerable angst.

Full refunds of registration fees will be made in the next few days.  We will work with Ala Moana Hotel to cancel reservations that were made under HCUL’s room block.  However, please contact your hotel to cancel any reservation made outside of the HCUL room block.  Also remember to cancel car rental reservations or any other arrangements that may have been made for ground transportation.

While we realize cancellation of the 2020 annual convention will result in an inconvenience to various stakeholders, the safety and health of all are of utmost concern.  Cancellation will have a significant financial impact on HCUL and HCUS, but is in keeping with the CU slogan “where people are worth more than money.”

HCUL’s annual business meeting will be held via conference call at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020, to approve proposed HCUL dues for the upcoming fiscal year 2021.  More details of that conference call will be forthcoming.

Mahalo for your understanding.
