Hawaii CU leaders enjoy repartee with NCUA

HCUL hosted a dialogue session in Honolulu with NCUA Board Members J. Mark McWatters and Todd Harper on Monday, January 24.

Board Members McWatters and Harper were in Hawaii to speak at Rochdale Paragon Group’s 23rd Volunteer Leadership Institute.  In attendance at the dialogue session were 57 officials from 16 Hawaii credit unions plus NCUA Supervisory Examiner Debra Pockat.  Among the topics discussed were NCUA’s supervisory priorities for 2020, the NCUA budget for 2020 and 2021 and the recent vote to keep normal operating level at 1.38 percent of insured shares, the delayed effective date of NCUA’s risk-based capital rule, NCUA’s perspectives on cannabis banking, the recently-approved FCU Bylaws, the emphasis on diversity and inclusion, and NCUA’s proposed rule on subordinated debt.
